Modern home for design-conscious family
Designed and built by McCann Moore Architects in the last 10 years, this large family home combines modern design with personality-filled spaces. The homeowners’ great interest in design shapes the interiors.
House tour: Let’s take a look around
The double-height entrance hall is a plant-filled paradise, with light streaming in from the glazing high above the front door.
The hall leads directly through a sliding door to the open plan kitchen/living/dining. When the sliding door is open, you can see straight through to the garden, where a raised herb bed flourishes.
The grey and white kitchen centres on a charcoal island laid on a concrete floor.
This open plan room is the most-used in the house, with the island doubling up as a place for homework, coffee and cooking.
It looks directly on to the dining area, where the large handmade table is emphasised by the slot window.
The hallway incorporates a useful storage wall, again in the charcoal grey palette from the kitchen.
The moody sitting room beyond is a well-used evening retreat, as well as providing fantastic views through double-aspect windows to the surrounding countryside.
Decorated in jewel shades set against dark walls, the sitting room echoes colours from the outside.
Jewel shades in the sitting room. Designers Guild upholstery and textiles pick out warm greens from the view outside.

Heading upstairs, the family has four huge bedrooms. The master has an ensuite and dressing room, the ensuite guest room (pictured) offers visitors a soothing palette of grey and soft lilac, and two further bedrooms share a family bathroom.
The gallery landing looks over the entrance hall, and floods upstairs with light.
House tour: Outside
The house is within walking distance of village life. It also has a rural feel, as it backs onto green fields. Doubling up as a family sports pitch, the back garden also has a climbing wall on one gable end.
This modern house was designed by McCann Moore Architects (design studios in Belfast and Dublin).
